John W. Mitchell, MD

Dr. John Mitchell has been practicing cardiology in the Auburn-Opelika area for 30 years. He started the cardiac care program in the area in 1985. Ever since, his highest priority has been to provide the best medical care possible to his patients.
He graduated summa cum laude and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa at Birmingham-Southern College, where he earned a degree in chemistry in 1976.
Dr. Mitchell graduated from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in 1976, where he received the Drennan Scholarship.
He performed an internship in Internal Medicine at the University of South Florida from 1980-1981 and served his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of South Florida from 1981-1983, where he was chief resident and recipient of the prestigious Marcus Award. He then served his Fellowship in Cardiovascular Medicine from 1983-1985, after which time he started the Cardiac Program at EAMC.
